octane demos
hey there, i finally got it working :Smile
even some 3d software installed and runs (i even got licenses to work)
but...
i want these octane demos! anyone knows where i can get them?
and : can anyone help me creating desktop links with icons?
also i need to set some environment variables for matador.
it only uses the license (in its own folder) when i start the app from there directly (runon 1 cuz the license is only for single cpu)

thanks in advance

RE: octane demos
You can download the Octane Demos here: https://jrra.zone/sgi/cds/

Note these are EFS CD images, the easiest way to get them to your Octane is using the EFS2TAR utility to make a .tar of the CD. I did a quick how-to here: http://forums.irix.cc/thread-234-post-5562.html#pid5562

Dragging and dropping any file to the icon catalog creates a link.

RE: octane demos
The thread I linked to has all of the commands to compile and run the code. Note it is written in go, and there is no go compiler for irix, so it must be run on another computer. The commands in the thread should work for Ubuntu, Mint, and other similar distros. Other distros (or Mac) will use different commands to install git and go.

Once you have the tar, just transfer it to your SGI (I use ftp, NFS also works), untar it, and use the software manager to install it.
