Question about AWdemo account

Post by kikems » Mon May 14, 2018 1:43 pm

When I'm install an Alias Wavefront applications, always create a new account named AWDemo, what's the purpose of this account? the app works as limited demo version if you launch form this account?

it's just an account that has all the correct env variables set and makes a few changes to .Xresources and/or .4dwm user config files - I forget exactly. Might have been used to demo to potential big customers in the early days. You don't need to create a demo account, that sort of went away after alias 8.1 or thereabout. You can just go from any user account and type /usr/aw/alias/bin/settupaccount (something like that, going off faulty memory).
