HP LaserJet 5M. It has a Postscript module so it is compatible with SGIs.

You know you're in trouble once you move up to big iron. Before long you'll be craving a tallboy Onyx rack to get a taste of Infinite Reality :)

I came close to that a few years back with the offer of a full on Onyx. Hindsight says to me.. thank god that never occurred.

Be prepared to move an extremely heavy machine, as my onyx2's shipping weight was 86Kg, if that's anything for you to go by!

When I received the machine, I disassembled it completely (and I mean completely) downstairs and cleaned each part individually and carried it upstairs in pieces and reassembled it there. (In this way, I managed to clean it thoroughly and move it upstairs rather easily.)

A 40" 4k monitor.

The previous owner got a too good to pass up deal on another large monitor with better specs, and didn't have room for both. I had some hardware he did have room for, so it ended up being too good of a deal for me to pass up as well.

Now to workout connecting all the gear, since my desktop no longer has room for the two 24" 1900x1200 panels I was running.

The 4k unit has one VGA port, one DVI-D, two HDMI and two Displayport connections.

The PC will be relatively easy; that graphics card offers DVI-D, HDMI and Displayport. It's currently connected via Displayport, but a graphics card update is probably in its future, since the current one only does 3840x2160 at 30Hz.

The obvious solution for the Tezro would be a single display via DVI. It won't be easy to give up the 3840x1200 desktop that came with connecting those two 1920x1200 panels with a DCD enabled 2@ display format. DCD or not, the V12 in the Tezro is single-link DVI, so regardless of the physical size of the 4k monitor, the largest signal I can feed it is 1920x1200@60 Hz.

What make and model? Its good to know that modern 4K displays can still come with VGA and/or DVI ports!

It's a Seiki Pro model SM40UNP. Not a name that rolls off the end of your tongue, but the display looks good to my eye, and the not so common inputs are nice to have. Found some specs at newegg: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product. ... 000P-00001
