Which SGI machine do you have plugged in and ready to go?

Post by Irinikus » Tue May 22, 2018 11:24 pm

My SGI machine of choice to use as a daily driver is my Tezro (she's now setup for daily use). I just have to get her setup with a permanent serial connection to my Mac Pro and then things will be perfect.

Next month I'm going to buy Ian Mapleson's 32-disk IRIX disk set, and this should give me more than enough to play with software wise for now.

Tezro here too!
I'm the manager

Besides irix.cc, I run these sites:

projectkitsune.com

kazuo.io

What does it include? Irix CDs? Third parties software?

Indigo2 and Fuel are both good to go at any point, they're connected via a KVM so I can drive either of them from the same keyboard/mouse/screen.

In all honesty, I use the Indigo2 for most things. The Fuel only tends to be fired up for more processor/graphics intensive stuff, or when I need IRIX > 6.5.22 (ie, compilation of some programs for which 6.5.22 is missing functionality).
:Indigo2_IMP: R10000 195MHz, 384MB RAM, SolidIMPACT, 36GB 15k & 300GB 10k drives, new/quiet fans, IRIX 6.5.22
:Fuelb: R14000 600MHz, 4GB RAM, V10 Graphics, 72GB 15k & 300GB 10k drives, new/quiet fans, IRIX 6.5.30
:O2: in storage...

As far as I know, the set does contain 3rd party software, but I don’t know exactly which programs are included at this point.

Octane II. That's the one I usually use, since it has the best configuration of the bunch.

I have to get it going again, everything was dismantled to install new flooring in the room and I haven't turned it on since.

My team is the only one, at the moment, with a working RTL simulator for PowerPC/BE. It's my personal interest trying to port it to Irix for a professional daily use. Ada95/ProDevAda95 is required.

I've got an O2 ready to VNC into at any time, plus a monitor, keyboard, and mouse in the basement. It runs 24/7.

The O2 (R10k@250, RAM 1GB, HDD 36 GB, IRIX 6.5.27). It's still my daily driver, actually (I'm using it to write this post)..
I am probably posting from moose, SGI O2 with R10k/250, 1GB RAM, and running IRIX 6.5.27
