My O2 is next to the Octane but doesn't see much use as it's a bit slow and not conducive to a pleasant desktop experience, but I'd love to pick up a spare R10k chassis and motherboard for cheap. I may actually use it then as a desktop machine.

My Octane has an issue where if I try to turn it on after it has been unplugged it'll kernel fault, so for the past few days I've just left it plugged in. I probably should just start unplugging it again though.

Sounds like your machine has some caps issues? Have you checked the frontplane for any issues?

For a long time my Indigo2 had the opposite issue. If I performed a soft shutdown but didn't kill the power completely, it wouldn't POST when powering back up...

The Firefox3 for things like this forum and the Links 2 for most other sites. It's not perfect, of course. I don't use my O2 for sensitive WWW stuff like online payments.

I am probably posting from moose, SGI O2 with R10k/250, 1GB RAM,  and running IRIX 6.5.27

Thanks J, could you elaborate how you get Links 2 to run on Irix?
