RE: CD Burner for Octane
If there are no CD-writers that work for octane, what about USB or SD cards?

I am trying to find a way to export files out of the octane to a PC. I still have not figured out to FTP files from the octane to the windows 7 computer.

CD writers work OK, the last one I had was a Yamaha of some variety used in an external enclosure.

I don't believe USB is an option for storage on IRIX due to lack of driver support.

From the old Octane hardware aggregator.

This is fantastic information.

I would be nice to recreate the hardware agitators for the various systems.

RE: CD Burner for Octane
YAMAHA CRW8824S works fine with Irix but it's very noisy on Linux.

Code:
(scsi8:A:5:0): data overrun detected in Data-in phase.  Tag == 0x7
(scsi8:A:5:0): Have seen Data Phase.  Length = 32.  NumSGs = 1.

It's not a cable problem, the above warning means this unit doesn't follow the common directive for its class of SCSI device, in fact, the kernel driver receives more data than what it's would be supposed to get from an SCSI CDrom. Burning CDs, anyway, works fine even on Linux. But it's annoying.

I don't suggest this unit for the purchase.
