Re: Network Install Onyx2 Missing eaddr

Ah well, all done, still have speckles on the screen, so suspect some hardware issue. Log in over the network or serial console, run /usr/gfx/stopgfx. Then run IR diagnostics: /usr/diags/IR/bin/irsaudit That'll tell you what's going on. When you're done, /usr/gfx/startgfx will restart the graphics ...

Re: very slow inter-network connection to Tezro

All I can say is I've used my O350 for _years_ to serve files to Windows clients, and that always worked fine. Windows XP, XP64, Windows 7 and now Windows 10. I'm using Samba on the IRIX end.

Re: Best Monitor option for SGI machines?

These are the two monitors that I'll consider: EIZO CE240W Sony SDM-P234 Both push a resolution of 1920x1200! Both of these are 10 years old so they will have CCFL backlights about to die. The EIZO has a bloody TN panel inside so it's color reproduction is going to suck. Why not buy a new monitor w...

Re: Best Monitor option for SGI machines?

I have a Dell 2407WFP, loads of inputs (with DVI) for older gear (not DP or HDMI though) and does 1920x1200 happily. Also does SoG happily. Used those for many years, we still have some hanging around at work. They use CCFL backlights, though, so they run hot for an LCD panel. Also, they're 10 year...

Re: Network Install Onyx2 Missing eaddr

For the 'big iron', the mac address is not the system ID! The system ID derives from the backplane or system controller.

For the Onyx2, the system ID is in the form Bnnnnn (Onyx1 was Annnnnn), but the IO6 has a MAC address of the form 08:00:69:xx:xx:xx like every other SGI

Re: Which Apple computer do you use daily?

My daily driver is: MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2012) (i5 2.5ghz, 16GB SSD 10.12.6) [Did the upgrades my self of course] I brought one of these back to life recently for a friend of mine who wants to start her own business. It was an absolute dog, but after replacing the spinning rust with an SSD and...

Re: Flexlm SDK for IRIX

* Just about every IRIX installation comes with FLEXlm v6.1 libs installed by default. Use headers and lmcrypt code from another SDK and off you go. * FLEXlm v9.2 source leaked years ago. It builds on IRIX if you disable the binary-only Elliptic Curve crypto code (Certicom SecurityBuilder). It's sti...

Re: Lucent PSU schemes (Octane)

what exactly do you mean when you says rails? I'm not really a power guy, but don't modern PSU supply 12V and 5V (or something like that), can't the 5V be lowered down by putting resistors in the path to achieve 3.3V? A lot of modern PSUs try to put more voltage on the 12v rails amps, not volts. ;)

Re: AutoCAD R13

Below are the files after extracing them from the autocadr13.tar.Gz file. I dont see a "ainstall" files in the root. There is what looks like an empty acadr13.tar.gz file that I cannot extract for some reason. acad13.PNG The autocadr13.tar.gz file was downloaded from the FTP. That looks like a dump...

Re: My Iris Crimson arrives.

Use normal IRIX 5.3, XFS doesn't bring you anything. First releases had serious bugs also.

What you want is the first IRIX 5.3 release, part# 812-0119-006. There were several platform specific releases after that, for Indy or IMPACT graphics and they are not supported on a Crimson.
